Nigeria
An early morning raid on the predominantly Christian village of Kawel in Bokkos County, Plateau state, has resulted in the deaths of 20 Christians and injury to many more. According to local sources, villagers were woken around 2 a.m. as a group of Fulani herdsmen attacked their homes. Despite being alerted to the situation, Nigerian security agencies did not respond until daylight.
Cuba
A Christian pastor has been detained and denied contact with his family after speaking out over the prolonged interruption of public utility services. Pastor Alexis Padrón Lorenzo who was detained on 10 June during a public protest in the Regla municipality of Havana, now faces an accusation of public disorder.

Vietnam
Two Christians from the Gia Lai Province in the Central Highlands were arrested on 1 June and charged with activities in contravention of Article 116 of the country’s Penal Code. Pastor Siu Yúi (68) and Siu Dok (40), who belong to the predominantly Christian Montagnard ethnic group, are accused of using religious teaching to undermine national unity and promote independence. The Montagnards are one of a number of ethnic groups across the central and north of Vietnam, many of whom are Christians, who routinely face discrimination, oppression, and persecution from the Communist authorities.
Nigeria
Fulani herdsmen are believed to be responsible for the killing of five Christians during a 16 June attack on a mine where they were working. Residents of nearby Gyel village in
the Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau state, reported that this incident was the latest in a series of attacks by herdsmen over recent weeks.
China
Thirty-three leaders of the Early Rain Covenant Church were detained during a heavy-handed raid by the authorities as they met in a hotel conference room in Jiangyou City,
Sichuan, on 14 June. According to ERCC leaders, the raid involved 60-70 government officials and police who were supported by specialist SWAT officers.

India
At least 25 Christians were injured after their prayer gathering was attacked on Sunday 31 May. The believers had gathered together for worship in the village of Sadrapal in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, when a mob of locals disrupted the meeting and started beating the worshippers. At least five of the Christians were hospitalised after suffering serious head injuries. Officials attempted to suggest that the attack was motivated by a land dispute, but this was denied by the victims who claim the incident was motivated by hostility towards their Christian faith and witness.
Somalia
A young Christian convert is recovering after being badly beaten by Muslim relatives in the Lower Juba region. 22- year-old Sofia Ahmed, came to faith in March and over the following eight weeks, shared the gospel with an uncle who visited a number of times and appeared to show interest in her new faith. After suggesting that he become a Christian, her uncle left without responding. On 28 May, he returned with three other male relatives who went on to beat her severely after asking her if she had become a Christian. Sofia suffered a broken nose in the attack which only stopped after neighbours intervened.
China
House church pastor, Chang Hao, has been ordered to stop using Zoom to facilitate prayer and teaching meetings. Authorities in Yunan Province served a Notice Ordering the Cessation of Illegal Activities on 3 June which carried a warning of administrative penalties or referral to judicial authorities for failure to comply. The officials accused Pastor Hao of acting against China’s Regulations on Religious Affairs by organising the meetings.

Iran
1 According to Article 18, Christian convert Mashar Parandin continues to be denied appropriate treatment for a heart-condition and tumours which are now threatening the sight in one of her eyes. Mashar was taken to hospital for a test at the end of May but was returned to prison without being treated.
2 Prayer has been requested for Christian convert and human rights defender, Mary Mohammadi, who has disappeared. Source, Amnesty International has reported that nothing has been heard from Mary since 26 February when she communicated with her family after travelling from Tehran to Ahvaz. Authorities are refusing to disclose her whereabouts, but it is understood that she was transferred from Ahvaz to an undisclosed location on 2 April.
Egypt
Christian leaders have welcomed a 19 May executive order by the government which legalised a further 191 churches. In 2016 the government formed a committee to oversee the approval of churches and affiliated buildings. This latest order brings the total number legalised to 3 804.
